Coach Nancy Reese began with
COHO in 1996, and became the Head Coach in 2002. Nancy grew up
in Hanover Park and swam for the Hanover Park Park District, Elgin
YMCA, Elgin High School, and Illinois State University. In High
School, Nancy was a 4 year Varsity swimmer, a 2 year Team Captain,
and an IHSA State Qualifier. At ISU Nancy was a 4 year letter
winner and an All-Conference selection while earning a
Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters degree in Physical
Education (Coaching/Sport Psychology).
During her tenure with COHO Nancy has been
selected as an Illinois Swimming Elite Camp Coach, Team Illinois
Midstates Coach, and Team Illinois Central Zones and Megazones
Coach, and Team Illinois Age Group Zones Team Manager. Since
2004 Nancy has also served as a member of the Illinois Swimming Age
Group Committee. Nancy is a huge Chicago sports fan (and Duke
basketball) and when she is not coaching she likes to spend
time with her boyfriend John (IT Manager for Deerfield Park
District), dogs Ryno & Gracie, and birds Jordan, Payton, Jack
and Sydney.

- Head Age Group/Junior Coach Jacob Weber joined COHO in
the Fall of 2002. Jacob grew up in Des Plaines and swam for the
Maine Township Aquatic Club, Maine East High School, and Northern
Illinois University. At NIU Jacob earned a Bachelors degree in
Education. Jacob swam distance freestyle in
college. During his tenure with COHO Coach Jacob has been selected
as an Illinois Swimming Elite Camp Coach. Jacob has coached over
20 swimmers and relays ranked in the top 16 in the
country. Along with several age-group state champions
and record holders, he has coached zone champions and
Junior national qualifiers. In addition to his
responsibilities overseeing the Age Group program at COHO, Jacob is
also the Assistant Boys Swim Coach at Deerfield High School.
When not coaching swimming he enjoys spending time with his
wife and daughter (and cheering for the White Sox, Bears,
Chicago Rush, and anyone playing the
Packers!).

Jeffrey Napolski

Associate Age Group Coach Jeff Napolski started with COHO in 2008.
In 2009 he began a full-time postion with COHO that also involves
running the learn to swim lesson program at the new Sachs
Recreation Center. Jeff attended Libertyville High School, and swam
200IM, 50 free, and 100 back. Coach Jeff graduated from the
University of Illinois, and moved back up to the area and started
teaching swim lessons and coaching with a summer league
team.

Jeff Summy
LEAD MASTERS COACH

ASCA LEVEL 1 - Jeff Summy has been with
COHO since 1999, as the Lead Masters Team and Assistant Senior
Elite Coach. Coach Summy attended the University of Northern Iowa
where he swam sprint freestyle, butterfly, and I.M. Jeff is a Math
teacher and Assistant Coach with the girls swim team at Deerfield
High School. During Jeff’s tenure with COHO he has coached
Masters State, National, and World Champions, and the Masters team
has nearly doubled in size!

Shawn Brodie
LEAD SENIOR I COACH

ASCA LEVEL 3 - Shawn joined
COHO in 2009 after coaching over 12 years for the Dundee
Dolphins. Shawn brings with him years of Head Coaching
experience and he has worked with swimmers of all ages and ability
levels. He is currently attending college full
time pursuing a degree in kinesiology. Shawn grew up in
Algonquin and swam for the McHenry County YMCA, Trails summer team,
Elgin YMCA, and Dundee Dolphins. He went to Jacobs High School
where we swam and ran cross-country and track. Shawn attended the
Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) on a swimming and
cross-country scholarship. He swam primarily freestyle and
backstroke during his career. Shawn has been a member
of the Illinois coaching staff for the Central Zones and
Mid-States Quadrangular meets. He was selected as the Northwest
Herald swim coach of the year as head coach of Jacobs High School
girls swim team in 2007. Shawn is also an assistant coach with the
Deerfield High School girls and boys swim
teams.

Mitch Madden
LEAD AG2 COACH

ASCA LEVEL 1 - Mitch Madden joined the
COHO staff in 2002. After several years as a swimming official,
Mitch decided he would prefer helping age groupers correct their
strokes, over having to disqualify them. Coach Mitch has brought a
great deal of enthusiasm and love of swimming with him to COHO, and
the swimmers, coaches, and parents appreciate him on a daily basis.
A former breaststroker, Mitch also works as an Independent
Marketing/ Advertising Director.

Gibby Lippai
LEAD MINNOWS COACH

Gibby Lippai
began coaching with COHO in 2001. A former COHO swimmer, Gibby is
very familiar with the COHO program. Gibby was a distance and
middle distance freestyler at Highland Park High School, and he
earned his degree in philosophy at Lake Forest College. Gibby
brings a great personality and enthusiasm to coaching the
Developmental and Age Group swimmers.

Melissa Hasenhuettl
ASSISTANT COACH

Another
COHO alumnus, Melissa began coaching with COHO in 2004. In addition
to coaching with COHO, she is also the Head Girls’ Water Polo
coach at Deerfield High School. She works full-time as a teacher
working with special needs children and she is pursuing
her Masters degree. Melissa's desire to teach is obvious to all
when she is on the pool deck.

Sarah Gershon
ASSISTANT COACH

ASCA LEVEL 1 - Sarah Gershon joined the
COHO staff in 2005. Sarah has been a COHO Masters swimmer for many
years and started coaching while going through rehab for her
injured shoulder. Sarah is once again swimming with the Masters
Team and has expanded her coaching to include serving as the Head
Girls & Boys Swim Coach at Waukegan High
School.

Bekah Webb
ASSISTANT COACH

Bekah joined
the Coho staff in 2009 bringing several years of coaching
experience, most recently in Higland Park. During three years
of coaching in Lake Forest, Bekah worked extensively with swimmers
of all levels and guided the age group dryland program. She beagn
her coaching career at Mundelein where she also swam as an age
grouper. Bekah has completed several triathlons and trained for the
2009 Chicago Marathon. She has worked as an Administrative
Assistant at Hilco Resources in Northbrook since
2005 assisting in the legal department for mergers and
liquidations in retail.
